About Me

My name is Robert O’Mara I was born in Youngstown, Ohio.  I enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving from 1972-1975.  I love this country and believe it is a noble country.  I have a great love for the subject of history. I was very interested in the history of our country.  I grew up during the Vietnam War and happen to serve near the end of the war. I was 16 years old in 1970 when I wrote to my Senators and U.S representative in regard to the rights of people in this country to be able to vote at the age 18 years old.  Believing if you old enough to serve this country at 18 you should have the right to vote at 18. I was 18 years old in 1972 that was the first time an 18-year-old person could vote in a Presidential election. I voted by absentee ballot while station at the Naval shipyard in Boston.  In Boston we were refitting the light cruiser U.S.S. Little Rock.  After the yard work the ship and I were deployed to Gaeta, Italy serving as the Flag ship for the Sixth Fleet.  During those formative age of 18-21 I gained a great respect for this country and it institution which has grown as I have gotten older. I was brought up with a sense of duty and during what is right.

I  have become  discussed with the way this country has been run since 1992 for the most part. Some politicians creating an elite status  for themself. Politicians  putting themself  on a pedestal  living by one set of rules  and us common people by another.  I am just a common man who wants to express my thought . I am writing to my congressmen again.  What better way to voice your concern than by Blogging.  This is my first attempt at Blogging. I hope you enjoy my perspective on life.

P.S. I will not just talk about politics. I will be talking about  life and family . I am a husband and a father of three girls
